Everton to keep an eye on Jens Petter Hauge at World Cup, 'situation is an interesting one'

Jens Petter Hauge could see his asking price fluctuate throughout the World Cup, says a former Everton scout.

The Norway international has linked up with Stale Solbakken for the summer tournament in North America.

They started their campaign in perfect fashion with a 4-1 win against Iraq at the Boston Stadium.

Erling Haaland bagged a brace as the Vikings kicked off their summer in perfect fashion.

Things weren't so ideal for Hauge as he watched from the bench for the entire 90 minutes in Massachusetts.

The forward continues to be linked with Everton, but their efforts to sign him could be heavily impacted by the World Cup.

Everton could pay inflated fee for Jens Petter Hauge

The 26-year-old has certainly had a year to remember after coming to the fore with Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Combined across 2025 and 2026, he contributed to 26 goals with 11 of those coming in Europe's elite competition.

That has prompted plenty of transfer interest, with the Toffees mooted as a potential landing destination for the winger.

David Moyes has been keen on adding attacking depth to his squad this summer and a move for the attacker could be on.

Bodo/Glimt will have an asking price, but Norwegian football expert and former Everton scout Bryan King believes that will change depending on his progress at the World Cup this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: "He's a player who could be available for a decent fee. Bodo/Glimt will want between £15million and £20m for him.

"If he does play in the World Cup and plays well, then the fee will certainly rise.

"It's an interesting one for Everton and they'll wait to see if he plays and how he does at the World Cup."

Everton must swoop quickly to seal cut-price Hauge deal

If the Toffees want the forward, they may not get a better opportunity than right now.

Hauge didn't feature in the World Cup opener and that doesn't look likely to change in the second after a 4-1 win.

That could prove to be the perfect chance for Everton to jump in and sign him while his stock is lower than it has been.

The hype surrounding his Champions League exploits has died off somewhat, so getting him for around £15m could be a superb move.

That figure could represent a bargain in the modern game, so pushing for a move now may be the best business the Blues do this summer.
