Why Everton bid for Baris Alper Yilmaz is now set to be accepted
Everton appear to be serious when it comes to signing Baris Alper Yilmaz from Galatasaray this summer.
Yilmaz has been a name linked with a switch to Hill Dickinson Stadium on and off for a while now.
The Turkey international made an impact at the World Cup when netting against tournament co-hosts the United States.
At club level, meanwhile, he has scored 37 goals in 205 appearances for Galatasaray, where he has spent the past five years.
Yilmaz has two more years to run on his existing deal at Rams Park, but Everton have now made their move.
That is if a new update coming out of Turkey on Monday is anything to go by.
What we know as formal Everton bid made for Baris Alper Yilmaz
Yilmaz registered a combined 19 goals and assists in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
The 26-year-old has also showed he can find the net in European competitions.
Goodison News previous exclusively reported that Galatasaray want £34m from Everton for Yilmaz.
It has now been reported by Turkish outlet Fanatik via X that Everton have agreed to pay that exact amount to Galatasaray.
It will be made up of around £30m upfront and the rest in add-ons.
On that basis, Gala may well have no choice but to now accept Everton's bid - though it will not go down well at the Turkish club.
Why 'all hell' could break out if Yilmaz leaves Galatasaray
Gala manager Okan Buruk hailed Yilmaz as a "valuable and special" player last year.
Fans of the Super Lig side have become frustrated with their team's transfer business this summer.
And it was recently suggested "all hell would break loose" if Yilmaz's sale is sanctioned, regardless of the fee paid.
Gala fans are a fanatical bunch, as English clubs have witnessed in European competitions down the years.
Everton will not care one bit about any backlash, of course, with this potentially a deal that is very close to being concluded judging by this latest update.
