Why Everton fans can dare to dream amid Jack Grealish's latest social media activity
Everton fans are not giving up hope of a Jack Grealish return from Manchester City just yet - and with good reason.
Grealish was an instant hit at Hill Dickinson Stadium last season, albeit in a campaign that was cut short halfway through.
The winger is now back to full fitness - or close to it - after coming on for Man City in last weekend's Community Shield loss to Arsenal.
Everton have been linked with a move for Grealish on and off pretty much all summer long.
Now that he is fit again, and with the window shutting in less than two weeks' time, it is now-or-never for the Toffees.
And Grealish's latest social media activity suggests he still holds Everton close to his heart.
Jack Grealish still has fond Everton memories
Everton figures are split regarding a move for Grealish, who will not be cheap.
If supporters had their wish, however, the England international would be back on Merseyside right now.
Grealish has spoken highly about the Toffees since leaving and he still has some fond recent memories.
He reposted a clip to his eight-million-plus Instagram followers on Friday morning showing him scoring against Crystal Palace last season.
That is ahead of Everton taking on the Eagles in their opening game of the 2026-27 Premier League season on Saturday.
It is clear Grealish still cares deeply about Everton, where he was once again able to enjoy his football.
The only question now is whether Everton are truly interested in a reunion and what it would take to get a deal done.
Where do Everton stand on Grealish return?
As outlined above, there are some behind the scenes at Finch Farm who have concerns over Grealish.
This surely all comes down to finances. Everton will rightly have reservations about splashing out more than £20million.
With Grealish having his injury issues and just one year to run on his Man City contract, Everton can surely get that price down.
Enzo Maresca brought on Grealish last weekend, but it is not known if the Italian truly trusts him.
You get the impression that something could happen in the final hours of the window as both clubs show their hands.
If Everton fans get their way, Grealish will be running down the wing again at Hill Dickinson before too long.
