Everton should look beyond Liam Delap's difficult campaign at Chelsea.

The Blues are in need of more attacking firepower as they look to qualify for Europe in the Premier League.

They are apparently happy with Beto and Thierno Barry, but surely if the opportunity came up to sign Delap, they would take it.

David Moyes launched a charm offensive last summer to try and convince the former Ipswich Town man to join his side.

However, he moved to Stamford Bridge instead, but things have not gone his way.

Now, the door has opened for him to end that nightmare after the West London club's approach for Danny Welbeck emerged.

Delap featured 28 times in the Premier League, but started just 12 times as he found opportunities limited.

However, that does not tell the full story, as he was still getting chances and into the right positions, but just didn't have the luck in front of goal.

He averaged 2.94 shots, 0.25 chances created and 5.39 touches in the opposition box on a per 90 minute basis.

Why Everton should be in the race for Delap

A move to join Moyes and the Toffees could do the world of good for the England hopeful.

He clearly is still capable of scoring and having an impact, but his confidence was shot with the Londoners.

The Merseysiders should not be put off by his struggles last season and should be keeping their eye on the situation very closely, if it gets to a point where he is close to an exit.

While, they are said to be happy with their current options, if Delap is available for a cheap enough price, or even on a loan deal, it would be a no brainer for the L3 outfit.

If they could get him back to his previous form, where he notched 12 goals with the Tractor Boys, it would be a solid investment.
