Olympique Marseille will surely be hoping Everton make an offer for Amine Gouiri.

The 26-year-old centre-forward has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit this transfer window.

OM are looking to cash in on the Algeria international before the fast-approaching deadline day.

Gouiri has emerged as a target at Hill Dickinson Stadium and the doors have seemingly opened for his arrival.

David Moyes has been relying on Thierno Barry and Beto as his two number nines, but could certainly do with another option up front.

The Marseille attacker scored eight goals in 22 league appearances last season and his situation will be worth watching closely.

How much Marseille now want for Amine Gouiri transfer

Everton's interest in Gouiri seems well known, with the club following him closely.

Marseille bought the forward for an £18.3million package deal from Rennes in January 2025 and they're now willing to let him leave.

According to La Provence on 21 August, the French club value the Algerian ace at around £21.5m.

Despite several clubs keeping an eye on Gouiri, the Ligue 1 side are yet to receive any offers for him.

At the moment, Marseille are facing a financial crisis, with French football's financial watchdog the DNGC placing restrictions on their wage bill and transfer spend.

The Ligue 1 side have also been handed a UEFA fine and could face further sanctions if they don't meet the financial targets this season.

As a result, Marseille are currently under pressure to sell some of their stars and Gouiri's exit could be on the cards despite his importance at CEPAC Velodrome.

Why number nine position could be biggest talking point at Everton

Everton looked to be in contention to secure a European place at one point last season, but had a disastrous end to the campaign.

Moyes failed to win any of his last seven Premier League matches with the Toffees as they finished 13th in the table.

The biggest talking point from last season was the number nine position, with Beto and Barry sharing responsibility.

Neither of the Scottish manager's number nines consistently performed for the Blues last season.

Moyes has the same player up top ahead of the upcoming campaign despite clear evidence that they need a better striker.

If the Merseyside outfit don't sign a new number nine and face another underwhelming season, The Friedkin Group's recruitment strategy will surely come into question.
