Teun Koopmeiners is one of those names that refuses to go away at Everton.

Over the past five years, they've actually tried to sign him more than once under different managers.

Currently at Juventus, things haven't go as hoped for the Dutchman.

Everton have once again been linked to Koopmeiners ahead of January, with Hill Dickinson Stadium a possible destination.

A loan move is a possibility, despite him costing £44million only in 2024.

With Newcastle also interested, those in the Premier League have been sent somewhat of a warning right now.

What have Juventus sources said about Koopmeiners?

It's not good.

After 104 goals and assists in 283 appearances for AZ and Atalanta, he's got nowhere near those numbers with Juventus.

With eight goals and five assists in 95 games, the Old Lady may feel that they've been sold short.

Vincenzo Marangio, a Juventus-orientated journalist followed by the likes of Gianluca Di Marzio, believes Koopmeiners is on a "black list".

Writing for Bianconera News, he described the midfielder as the "most unexpected mystery" who arrived simply lookign amateur.

Is that the type of player that Everton want or need right now?

Do Everton need Koopmeiners?

Right now, it appears not.

David Moyes worked hard to rebuild his midfield this summer, and did so very successfully if the early signs are anything to go by.

Idrissa Gueye left for Saudi, while Hayden Hackney and Christian Norgaard were both signed, at the opposite ends of their careers.

The added exposure for Harrison Armstrong, who nearly left for Nottingham Forest, has certainly taken him to another level as well.

And then there's James Garner, who is the star of that midfield.

With Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall playing slightly ahead of a double pivot in midfield, it's hard to see where Koopmeiners fits in right now.

There are much bigger holes to fill in this squad, and some that are very urgent, too.

Just look at both full-backs, with zero depth behind Vitaliy Mykolenko or Ainsley Maitland-Niles, as well as Thierno Barry being the only striker.

Those are serious issues, and Angus Kinnear and the Friedkins would do well to finally get something done right in the market.
