Everton may still sign Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United this summer but the deal looks less likely now, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports news editor reported on 31 July that with Crysencio Summerville, another Leeds attacker leaving for West Ham [David Ornstein], the chances of them letting Gnonto leave as well are low.

That said, he has not yet ruled out a move for the Italy international with a month left to go until the window shuts.

Myers wrote on X: "I certainly don’t think it’s as possible as it was but you can’t rille anything in or out until the window shuts."

Everton can test Leeds United's resolve by making a bid for Wilfried Gnonto

The Toffees' potential bid for Gnonto could serve as a litmus test for Leeds' resolve to retain the player.

By submitting an offer, the Merseyside outfit would gain insight into the Whites' valuation of the 20-year-old and their willingness to negotiate.

Additionally, Everton's bid could prompt Gnonto to take a more active role in his future.

If Gnonto is keen on a move to Goodison Park, he might express his desire to leave Leeds, potentially influencing the club's decision.

The Italian's determination to play in the Premier League again could also motivate him to push for the transfer, adding another layer of complexity to the negotiations.

However, Leeds' recent sale of Summerville to West Ham could impact their stance on Gnonto and it may come down to the equation the attacker has with the club and manager Daniel Farke.
