Dominic Calvert-Lewin hints at Everton exit in future

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admitted he is happy as of now, but has the ambition to win trophies in the future.

Carlo Ancelotti’s departure has left a number of Everton players uncertain about their futures at the club, according to The Athletic.

It seemed that the Italian was taking the club in the right direction with more influx in this summer’s transfer window.

However, now that he’s gone and the identity of his successor still unknown, players could look for an opportunity to jump ship in the coming months.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with an exit, most recently to Manchester United [Stretty News], but he’s revealed that he’s happy at Goodison Park.

However, he’s also said that he wants to play in the Champions League and win trophies – putting the onus on Everton to deliver results in the coming seasons.

He told L’Equipe, “I am happy at Everton. I worked hard to become number nine at this club and score goals like I did recently.

“Personally, I have the ambition to one day play in the Champions League and win titles. But for now, I’m happy at Everton.”

Interesting

Ancelotti was brought in to one day take us to that Champions League level and won trophies along the way.

However, the Italian failed in that regard and left when an offer to join a big club landed at his doorstep.

It’s not wrong to think that Calvert-Lewin could also do something similar, but as of this summer the England international looks set to stay.

He’s just enjoyed his best season for the club and is one of the popular personalities inside the dressing room and among the fans.

But it is now time for the club to consider their philosophy for the next five years. Getting a big name in the hope of getting instant success may not be the best option there is.

Instead, we must go for someone capable of building sides and ensuring that the star players are catered to and aren’t pushing for exits when things start to go south.
