Amadou Onana to start, Anthony Gordon continues up front - Everton predicted XI v Nottingham Forest
Everton host newly promoted Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon looking for their first Premier League points of the season.
Frank Lampard has seen the club struggle to defeats against Chelsea and Aston Villa so far, with the only goal they’ve scored going in thanks to former player Lucas Digne’s boot.
But the boss must find a way to get the team better in attack and as strong as they can be defensively to get points on the board and avoid another relegation battle.
In goal there’s no doubting that the right man to be between the sticks is Jordan Pickford and he will continue to lead the way from the back.
Lampard has regularly gone with a back five during his time at Goodison and with the arrival of Conor Coady that is almost certainly the long term plan for the team now too.
Coady will start in the middle of the three centre-backs, flanked by fellow summer signing James Tarkowski and Mason Holgate as Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina are both ruled out with injury.
Seamus Coleman returned to the bench against Villa but once again Nathan Patterson impressed at right wing-back and should keep his place in the side, with Vitalii Mykolenko starting on the opposite flank too.
In midfield Alex Iwobi has become indispensable in the middle, but Abdoulaye Doucoure suffered an injury against Villa and was forced off after just half an hour of play.
That should open up a vacancy in the middle for new mega-money signing Amadou Onana to step into the starting lineup after his impressive cameo that saw him earn an assist.
In attack Salomon Rondon is fit and available again after his suspension to lead the line in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s absence, but the manager is likely to go with Anthony Gordon up top once again despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Summer signing Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray are likely to keep their places out wide with options limited, but the club are hopeful of completing an attacking signing before the game so should that happen things could change.
Predicted Everton XI vs Nottingham Forest: Pickford; Tarkowski, Coady, Holgate; Patterson, Onana, Iwobi, Mykolenko; McNeil, Gordon, Gray.
