Everton, Chelsea face imminent ‘mini transfer deadline day’, assets to be sold – Sky Sports

Everton will have to sell players before the end of June to comply with Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster named the Toffees live on air [6 June], along with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, as clubs that must now sell assets in the next few weeks.

The figure that Farhad Moshiri has to find is “a closely guarded secret” and the situation could result in a “mini transfer deadline day” at the end of June.

This could see a whole host of Premier League clubs lose a key asset ahead of, or just days into, the summer transfer window.

Everton set to lose star players this summer

The financial issues that the Toffees have had to deal with over the past year have been no secret and dealt with very publicly.

Moshiri has been searching for a new owner and while he has been doing so, he has had to deal with the struggle of running the club on a day-to-day basis.

Throw in the construction of a brand new state-of-the-art stadium and Everton have plenty of outgoing money but a lack of a consistent incoming stream.

Now it appears that the Premier League are going to enforce a ruling which will see them forced to sell one or more key assets this summer.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jordan Pickford are the likely candidates to bring the most money in but would be the toughest to lose.

There is an opportunity there to make the cash up that the Premier League requires but they don’t want to be mugged off.

The sadness is, with these PSR and FFP rulings, they will be backed into a corner with little option but to accept cheaper deals. Just look at Nottingham Forest and Brennan Johnson.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche can get best out of James Garner if the Toffees can complete a freebie deal the manager wants.
