John Textor appears to have wrecked David Moyes' hopes of bringing an Everton target to Goodison Park.

The American business somehow remains relevant on Merseyside despite The Friedkin Group gazumping him in the takeover race and already coming into power.

This time, he has come into the Toffees like a wrecking ball, handing a major blow to their plan to sign Ernest Nuamah from Lyon.

According to Alan Myers (21 January), Nuamah is likely to stay at Lyon at least until the end of the season despite Everton reportedly agreeing a transfer with the Ligue 1 club.

David Moyes will be furious with John Textor at Everton

Reputed French journalist Fabrice Hawkins reported via personal X account on 16 January that both clubs have reached an agreement over a £16.9million fee. However, it appears the Textor-owned club have made a U-turn on their stance.

This is because Luiz Henrique, who was earmarked to replace Nuamah at Lyon, is swapping Botafogo for Zenit St. Petersburg instead.

It is worth noting that both Lyon and Botafogo are owned by Textor. Therefore, it is unclear how their plan to replace the Ghana international with Henrique could not come to fruition.

The timing of it all makes one wonder if Textor is purposefully pulling the strings to leave Everton in a tough spot.

The Merseyside-based club will particularly be frustrated as they previously saw their bid to sign Nuamah in the summer collapse at the 11th hour.

It would not be a surprise if the Goodison Park outfit ditched their interest in the 21-year-old entirely now.
