Emil Holm boost for Everton as Wolves relegation diverts Bologna’s attention to Jackson Tchatchoua

Emil Holm has been on Everton’s radar as a potential right-back signing ahead of the summer window.

The fullback, currently signed with Bologna, is on loan at Juventus, but the Old Lady have rarely used the defender, making a permanent move unlikely.

In reality, the most probable outcome is Holm returning to Bologna following the conclusion of the season.

However, after shipping the 25-year-old out, the chances of a future at the Red-Blues seem to be slim, at least looking from the outside in.

That opens the door for Everton to reignite transfer interest, and that could be further boosted by Wolves’ relegation, with Jackson Tchatchoua now entering the fray.

How Jackson Tchatchoua could hold the key to Everton signing Emil Holm

In another reality, Tchatchoua could have been playing his football at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the Cameroonian on the Toffees’ radar last summer.

However, when the window shut, it was Molineux where the right-sided fullback had landed. For the Blues, it has looked like they avoided a transfer mistake as Tchatchoua struggled to make an impact for Wolves.

Now, the Cameroon international could ultimately end up boosting David Moyes’ side in the transfer market.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tchatchoua is a “good name” for Bologna when it comes to potential right-back signings.

The Serie A outfit had tracked the defender in the recent winter window before eventually landing a loan move for Juventus’ Joao Mario, with Holm going the other way.

Unlike Holm’s loan, Mario does not have an option to buy, and Bologna are reportedly keen on keeping him. However, if the Northern Italy side cannot agree to a deal, it is said it would not be a surprise for them to go back for Tchatchoua.

With Juventus not wanting to sign Holm permanently, it would leave the Swede likely to be second fiddle at Bologna.

A role he will ultimately not want to play, thus leaving the door ajar for a potential move to Everton.

Could Everton make a move for Tchatchoua instead?

With Nathan Patterson likely on his way out, the right fullback position will undoubtedly be a priority position for Moyes in the summer.

Everton could surprise us all and go back in for Tchatchoua, but after watching him this season for Wolves, that would be unwise.

The Cameroonian looked miles off what is required in the Premier League, and despite his scarily quick pace, he often looked scared to utilise it.

Thanks to Wolves, the Blues ultimately avoided a mistake in the market by signing a player not well-adapted to English football.

Now, Tchatchoua could end up being the key factor in the Toffees’ next right-back signing.
