David Moyes to make demands which could hit £100m after ‘incredible’ Everton collapse

David Moyes looks set to continue his spending at Everton if he gets his own way.

The Toffees weren’t afraid to splash the cash over the summer after making moves for six permanent signings and two loanees.

Outside of Jack Grealish and Merlin Rohl, a considerable outlay was made in the hope of improving the squad ahead of a first season in Hill Dickinson Stadium.

That worked in spells on Merseyside, but form has ultimately fallen away at the worst possible time for Moyes and Co.

Everton’s hunt to secure European qualification is essentially over now, something which could prompt a busy transfer window in the coming months.

The Blues look set to end their campaign in frustrating fashion as the dream of at least Conference League football eludes them.

A defeat against Sunderland on the penultimate day of the season sums things up after taking the lead, then falling apart before losing 3-1.

That sums up the lack of strength in depth that the L4 outfit possess even after two busy transfer windows in the past 12 months.

Even after spending over £100million this year, former Everton scout Bryan King believes Moyes will be keen to spend a similar amount again to improve his side properly.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: “It’s incredible, they’ve dropped six places in three weeks.

“I can imagine Moyes is hugely disappointed because he never likes losing.

“I don’t think you can blame him for what’s happened. I don’t think he had as much strength in depth as he thought.

“They need to strengthen, but there will be question marks over how much they can spend in the summer.

“Moyes will be telling the hierarchy that they need a stronger squad.

“By the look of it, they need to spend £100m, but is that money available?”

Everton were certainly poor against Sunderland, and it does feel like changes are needed to get back on the right track for next season.

Who have Everton been linked with signing?

There have already been plenty of big names linked with moves to Hill Dickinson Stadium ahead of the summer transfer window.

If there is a sizable budget on the table, Moyes may be able to push through deals for these targets.

Grealish is one who has been linked with a permanent move even after injury ruined a productive loan spell on Merseyside.

Free transfers for Harry Wilson and John Stones have also been mooted for the Blues, while Liam Delap has emerged as a striker option.

Lutsharel Geertruida is the latest name to be linked as his loan spell at Sunderland looks unlikely to end with a permanent deal.

It’s clear how many names are on the shortlist in L3, but it will ultimately hinge on what sort of budget Moyes is afforded.
