Alan Myers shares what he was told about Everton takeover at Chelsea game
Alan Myers is unsure of the Friedkin Group's continued commitment while they look to sell Everton.
The Houston-based company announced its plans to sell the Toffees recently, despite only purchasing the club in 2024.
Dan Friedkin's group were initially seeking minor investment from other parties, but reports have suggested that they struggled in their search and are now open to a full sale.
Everton's sale could be worth as much a £1billion, which would act as a short-term profit for the American-led consortium, something which Blues fans had been wary of this whole time.
There is further uncertainty around David Moyes' future, with the Scot's contract at Hill Dickinson set to expire at the end of the season.
Now, Myers has shared the latest from what he's heard about Everton's potential takeover after visiting Hill Dickinson on Saturday.
Alan Myers shares what he was told about takeover at Everton vs Chelsea
Everton's undefeated start in the Premier League came to an end as Chelsea defeated the Toffees 2-0.
A Pedro Neto brace did the damage, as Moyes' side struggled to have any real chances, with Thierno Barry having perhaps the Blues' best to score.
Ideally, the Toffees will want their potential takeover to go through as soon as possible with the January window looming, but how many parties are currently interested in buying the club?
While speaking on True Blue Everton, Myers revealed what he was told at the game against Chelsea regarding the latest takeover rumours.
He said: "Talking to a few people on Saturday, I’ve been made aware, and I’ll caveat this by saying I don’t know how true it is, but I’m hearing from good people that there are two interested parties in buying Everton.
"The owners have said they will be committed in the transfer window; I’m not sure that will be the case. I think they will be looking to secure the financial side of the football club rather than taking gambles.
"I think that will be good enough for them [Moyes keeping Everton in the Premier League]. I think that will be their mentality."
There is yet to be a publicly named frontrunner to buy the club, but it seems there are some conversations going on behind the scenes.
Myers shares what he's 'certain' about at Everton ahead of transfer window
Myers has suggested that Everton staying in the Premier League will be enough for TFG to keep the club looking like an attractive prospect to potential buyers.
His gut feeling, like many other Evertonians, is that TFG won't dip their hands in their pockets if they are still here come the winter window, regardless of how well they is doing in the Premier League.
This, in turn, could negatively affect Moyes' success with the team this year, which is why a takeover needs to happen as soon as possible.
But one thing Myers is "certain" that will happen regardless is that Everton will buy a striker in the January market.
Will that be enough?
