Farhad Moshiri was spotted at Everton's Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon in a "curious" development.

Moshiri departed as Everton owner in December 2024 to usher in a new era on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group took control after Moshiri sold his stake in the Toffees to the Americans.

Moshiri has attended Hill Dickinson Stadium previously, although his relationship with Everton fans is complicated to say the least.

Interestingly, though, he was pictured at the ground in Everton's first match since the Friedkin sale news was made public.

What was Farhad Moshiri doing at Everton vs Chelsea match?

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Moshiri made his way through the media room an hour or so before the game.

The report adds how it is a particularly "curious" development in wake of Josh Wander - who tried to buy Everton from Moshiri - pleading guilty to fraud.

Wander was part of 777 Partners, who were close to buying Everton from Moshiri prior to the Friedkins striking a deal.

The deal collapsed after the two parties failed to reach an agreement, with that a bullet dodged for Everton.

Exactly why Moshiri decided to attend Hill Dickinson on Saturday is unknown, but he was surely aware questions would be asked on this of all days.

Will Moshiri return as Everton owner?

Moshiri spent eight years at the top of Everton, during which time the club were besieged by financial issues and poor league finishes.

Moshiri had made the majority of his money through his business partnership with Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov.

When put to reliable reporter Alan Myers if Moshiri could one day return as Everton owner, he gave a simple reply of "no".

Moshiri appears to just be back as a fan, and he will no doubt be just as intrigued as anyone to see what happens next in terms of the Merseyside club's ownership situation.

If nothing else, at least it was never boring under Moshiri's tenure.
