Richard Keys can't believe that the Premier League have punished Everton yet again.

The Toffees were deducted 10 points, reduced to six, back in 2021/22 due to PSR breaches, but that case still hasn't been closed.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that Burnley had won a legal battle against the Blues, who are now ordered to pay them nearly £40million in damages.

Burnley argue that if the points deduction was applied in the same season as the charge, they would have survived relegation ahead of Everton.

Everton are ready to appeal the decision, having confirmed they are surprised and angry at the call.

Keys immediately agreed, and focused more on the failings of Burnley on the pitch during that season.

Everton hit out at Premier League once again

While Manchester City's 115 charges continue in the background, the Premier League have instead zoned in on Everton.

The points deductions, handed down by them at the time they were, are now being used against Everton for millions of pounds.

Keys admitted they were having a laugh, saying Burnley's relegation had nothing to do with the Toffees, but more themselves.

"The PL are having a laugh," he wrote on X. "Everton are to pay £40m to Burnley because of PSR breaches in 21/22?

"How about getting the City case settled before we hear anymore about PSR at other clubs?"

What have Everton said about the case?

It was no surprise that a statement followed the release of the findings, saying the decision has already been appealed.

Everton argue that it sets a dangerous precedent for the future of English football, while also revealing they are compliant financially.

As the Premier League prepares to leave PSR behind for squad cost rules, the microscope has never been brighter.

At this point, it feels like the so-called lesser clubs, like Everton and Nottingham Forest, are being hit with the harder punishments.

Nothing has happened with City, with Chelsea also receiving miniscule punishment for illegal transfer activity with agents.

Chelsea's fine for secret agent payments was just above £10m, so why are Everton being charged quadruple that for something they were already punished for?

It becomes more of a joke every single day, and until a single shred of evidence is revealed that makes these punishments fair and justified, nobody will trust in the Premier League again.
