Christian Purslow has poured cold water on The Friedkin Group's hopes of selling Everton.

The news surrounding Hill Dickinson Stadium has been dominated by the US consortium and their desire to leave L3.

They have been hit with accusations that they only purchased the Toffees to flip them for a quick profit.

The owners have said they will only sell to the right people who can lead the Blues forward.

Who that is, no one quite knows.

It doesn't look as if anyone is going to come up any time soon as Purslow looks into the potential sale of Everton.

What has Christian Purslow said about Everton sale?

There are plenty of questions flying about surrounding a takeover on Merseyside.

The problem is, there doesn't appear to be any buyer coming to the table at this stage.

The Friedkins say they will continue to run Everton as they have been until then, but you imagine their patience could evaporate at some stage.

It seems that they could be waiting a long time based on how much the Toffees would cost a new owner.

That is the opinion of Purslow who has told The Football Boardroom podcast why the Blues aren't an attractive prospect for prospective buyers right now.

He said: "It worries me that you're being asked to spend £800m just to give Dan Friedkin his money back, for the right to lose £40m-50m every year which the new owner has to put in.

"This is a team that's going pretty well under David [Moyes], but their prospect of being top six, arguably seventh or eight with Villa and Newcastle further ahead in that journey, how do you improve the team?

"That isn't a particularly sexy proposition to a very rich person who wants to buy a football club and make them better so I don't think it's going to be an easy sale. This could take some time."

It doesn't sound good for the Friedkins and may not point towards a bright short-term future in L3.

Why David Moyes contract latest is a 'huge glaring negative' for The Friedkin Group

Everton could get much worse before they get better

Everything seems to be up in the air for the Toffees right now.

The only plus point for fans is that results have been largely positive so far this campaign.

The irony is that positive performances may actually delay the Friedkins' ability to sell any time soon.

As Purslow says, a club in and around mid-table won't exactly bring many eyes for a fee closing in towards £1billion.

That fee will only be dragged downwards should Everton's league position get worse, it could force TFG's hand to lower their asking price.

It seems to be a catch-22 as the Blues may need to get considerably worse before the Friedkins open the door to a wider audience to sell.
