Vitaliy Mykolenko will be looking over his shoulders as Everton reportedly look to sign a new left-back in the final hours of the winter transfer window.

Since his move from Dynamo Kyiv in 2022, the Ukrainian defender has been the Toffees' first-choice option at full-back.

While the 25-year-old hasn't been challenged for his spot in the starting lineup yet, things could change for him in the coming days.

In the current campaign, Mykolenko has played 21 times for the Merseyside outfit, but fans have been frustrated with his inconsistent performances.

The left-back possesses immense quality going forward, but he leaves a lot to be desired defensively.

Everton to replace Vitalii Mykolenko with Adrien Truffert transfer?

Stade Rennais left-back Adrien Truffert has been identified by David Moyes as a transfer target at Everton, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist revealed on his Patreon (2 February) that the Scottish manager wants to bolster his squad with the addition of the 23-year-old defender, who he says is valued at £20million.

The France Under-23 international has caught the attention of many with his performances in Ligue 1 this season, and he could arguably be a decent signing for Everton.

In the current campaign, the defender has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Rennes and has even captained them on occasion.

Truffert's potential arrival could make or break Mykolenko as he would evidently need to compete for his place in Moyes' plans.

As things stand, Ashley Young is the only other senior natural option at left-back for the Toffees.

Truffert will undoubtedly add strength in depth at Goodison Park as the Blues look to survive the drop to the Championship.
