Will Kevin Malone revive bid to buy Everton after TFG sale development?
If The Friedkin Group were to complete a sale for Everton Football Club today, the buyer would be getting a much more stable club than the Americans did when they bought the Blues two years ago.
Everton were in a mess when Farhad Moshiri sold his shares in the Merseyside club to TFG.
They were continually battling relegation, burning through managers and sporting directors, splashing cash on poor players and, of course, being deducted points due to financial mismanagement.
It's a different story now, with Everton currently sitting eighth in the Premier League standings with David Moyes at the helm, with the Toffees going unbeaten in the league until their loss against Chelsea on Saturday.
While TFG have faced criticism for not getting the most out of Everton, it's fair to say that the Americans have steadied the ship and built a solid foundation for a new owner to build upon.
But who will be that next owner?
Kevin Malone's previous efforts to buy Everton
Amanda Staveley is one of few to have so far been linked with a takeover at Everton, but one person who's not been discussed yet is Kevin Malone.
With TFG confirming their intent to sell Everton earlier this month, it might not be a shock to see his name re-appearing in reports as the Americans seek a buyer for the Premier League outfit.
Malone is the former LA Dodgers general manager and a consortium led by him were initially interested in battling TFG and 777 Sports to buy Everton from Moshiri back in 2024.
The consortium had made an offer for Everton prior to TFG's initial exclusivity agreement with Moshiri and were willing to commit over £78million a year in football operation fees.
When the Friedkins backed out of that deal for the Blues in July 2024, BBC Sport reported how Malone was considering another move for the Toffees.
Of course, that didn't happen, with BBC Sport suggesting that the levels of debt accrued under the previous owner raised question marks among Malone and his associates.
However, things are different this time and Everton are a far more stable club.
Will Malone now look to buy Everton?
Everton's debt seemed to be an issue for Malone last time around and that debt will still be there should he look to buy the Blues now.
TFG reportedly want £800m for the club, which includes debts of around £380m.
Just under two years ago, the Friedkins paid around £400m for a 99.5 per cent share of Everton.
So will Malone be willing to pay a massively increased fee, which still includes a substantial amount of debt?
The 69-year-old, who is currently the Senior Advisor on Human Trafficking at the United States Department of Health and Human Services, is unlikely to be a buyer, in our opinion.
However, if he's still close to the people who made up his consortium two years ago and they still see the benefit of buying a club like Everton, who knows?
Everton are a massive club and one that has already shown that with a bit of TLC, can show some really promising signs.
TFG have made the sleeping giants stir - but who will be the ones who wake them up properly?
