Everton have a 'long-term problem' with Thierno Barry that might not be fixed
Troy Deeney isn't the biggest fan of Everton striker Thierno Barry.
The former Villarreal ace has built a reputation for being wasteful in front of goal since moving to the Premier League.
David Moyes doesn't have any other natural number nine to rely on after the Toffees sold Beto in the summer.
Barry has missed the most big chances in the league this season, with the one against Hull City at MKM Stadium surprising many.
The French youngster had an open goal to aim at after receiving the ball from Jarrad Branthwaite, but it went between the forward's legs.
Hill Dickinson Stadium will host Chelsea next on 17 October and Deeney doesn't expect much from the 23-year-old attacker.
Why Thierno Barry developments aren't encouraging at Everton
Barry has promised to do better at Everton after missing several opportunities against Hull.
The striker hasn't had the easiest of experiences off the pitch since moving to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It's clear the young forward has an immature side to his personality, but that isn't surprising given his age.
Barry is determined to do better and works on himself when he's not with the Blues.
However, Deeney has raised an issue as the Frenchman tries to improve himself.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 15 October, the former Watford striker said, "Apparently, at the start of the season, Moyes said that [Barry] was working with a mental coach to concentrate more.
"At the start of the season he was scoring goals and it was obviously working. I think if you're a professional footballer that has to work on concentration there's genuinely an issue, especially as a striker.
"Wouldn't put your money on him getting 15 to 20 goals. I think he could potentially be a problem long term because you're going to have to play him through these moments."
How David Moyes can find temporary solution for Thierno Barry problem
If Barry continues to miss gilt-edged chances for Everton, it won't be long before most of the fanbase turns on him.
The French youngster has been put in a difficult situation, with no one left in the squad to cover for him.
Moyes can't keep on putting the striker in the firing line and making him take the brunt of the criticism.
There is a decent player with plenty of potential in Barry, but the Blues risk shattering his confidence if they play him through the rough moments.
Brennan Johnson is capable of featuring in the number nine position, and Moyes would be wise to use the Wales international up front to ease some burden off the former Villarreal ace.
