Everton succumbed to another 2-0 loss at Arsenal on Saturday.

David Moyes made three changes to the side that were defeated the same score by Chelsea, but it was the same outcome.

Jack Grealish and Jarrad Branthwaite were forced out, with sickness and concussion protocol, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles dropped to the bench.

Ezri Konsa's seventh minute strike was an early setback, and then Gabriel secured all three points for the hosts.

The Blues once again came away with nothing from the Emirates Stadium, just like they did at home last time out against the Stamford Bridge side.

They did push, but ultimately, it did not matter, as the early goal caused the damage and then the Brazilian killed it off as a contest.

James Garner not at his best in Everton loss

James Garner is usually a reliable player for the Toffees, but he was not at his usual level this time around.

He completed 80 per cent of his passes in the contest, and created just one chance.

Garner succeeded with only one of the six long passes that he attempted, for a 17 per cent success rate.

The England midfielder made 13 defensive contributions, with eight recoveries, two blocks, two clearances and one tackle.

His ground duels were another weakness, as he won just two of the eight that he contested against Mikel Arteta's side, for a 25 per cent success rate.

Garner's showing was summed up by the booking that he received in the 66th minute.

He needs to get back to his best, sooner rather than later or the Blues will be in trouble.

Brennan Johnson dismal in Everton defeat

Brennan Johnson was nowhere near the level required in the defeat, as he had minimal impact once again.

The Welshman somehow took just 10 touches, per FotMob data, and failed to find a teammate with the one cross that he did attempt.

None of his touches came in the opposition box, and he played just one line-breaking pass.

His showing was summed up by the fact that he collided with Pickford for the opening goal.

Defensively, he also lost most of the ground duels that he attempted, winning just two of six, for a 33 per cent success rate.

It was a miserable showing, and raises even more questions over Moyes' exclusion on Tyler Dibling from the side.

Surely, if Johnson can't raise his level going forward, the young winger will have a chance to replace him.
