Everton set for 'never before seen' double friendly, pubs told to stock up on beer
Everton look set to make club history with their pre-season activity.
The Toffees now know how the Premier League campaign will begin after fixtures were released on Friday.
Crystal Palace will travel to Hill Dickinson Stadium on the opening day, before an away day at Bournemouth.
It is always an exciting day to learn how the season will play out, but all eyes will now be on summer preparations.
The Toffees only have multiple fixtures against already lined up with Newcastle United, Dundee, Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and VfB Stuttgart.
Everton also look set to feature against Hamburg, with that entire day potentially destined to be historic.
Everton set for historic double header friendly vs Hamburg
Reports from Bild's newspaper edition earlier in June revealed that the Blues could be set for a "blockbuster" friendly with the Bundesliga outfit.
The Merseyside outfit could make the trip to Germany to feature at Volksparkstadion on 1 August.
That would mark the first ever meeting between the two sides, but further history could be made.
A new report from German outlet Bild suggests that the "Volkspark Festival" is set to go ahead against Everton.
The latest update is that the women's sides of each club will also go head-to-head in individual friendlies.
This sort of double header is "never seen before" at Volksparkstadion and is expected to draw in a "large number of supporters from England".
Local pubs have been urged to stock up on beer to deal with the travelling supporters who have been eager to watch their side abroad for years.
Everton friendlies falling into into place
There have been plenty of concerns vocalised before the Blues finally put some pre-season fixtures in place earlier this week.
Newcastle were the only opponents at one point with a friendly penned in for 12 August.
However, they have now announced further games with Stoke City, Bolton Wanderers, Dundee FC and Stuttgart - the latter also in Germany.
That will be an exciting outing for supporters, especially after learning that the Toffees turned down the opportunity of a US tour this summer,
They went on one nearly 12 months ago to the Premier League Summer Series, but results weren't positive.
It now looks as if they are getting their house in order, with a trip abroad to look forward to.
