Everton have made a brighter start to the 2026-27 campaign than many perhaps expected.

After the disappointment that was transfer deadline day, David Moyes has managed to keep things steady at a time when the fanbase was ready to explode.

Everton have avoided defeat across their first seven games of a season in all competitions for only the third time this century.

Moyes was also at the helm for one of those other occasions, coming in 2006-07, while Carlo Ancelotti was in charge when it happened in 2020-21.

The Toffees most recently saw off Ipswich Town 1-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium to move into seventh place in the Premier League, just three points off Arsenal in second.

And Moyes' men also have a home Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United to come for a place in the quarter-finals.

David Moyes gets his Everton wish

Moyes has regularly talked up the importance of his sides being tough to beat.

He has done exactly that on the basis of the first two months of the campaign.

Going through the first seven games, there has yet to be a disappointing result on the face of it.

It could be argued Manchester United (home) and Tottenham Hotspur (away) were there for the beating, but a draw against both was not a bad result.

Especially when you consider the crazy manner of the 2-2 draw with United.

Everton also did not slip up against Ipswich and Crystal Palace in the league, while a late draw at Bournemouth was also a positive outcome.

Preston North End and Wolverhampton Wanderers were also dispatched in the Carabao Cup.

Everton are playing as more than a sum of their parts at the moment, but the question now is whether this can be maintained.

When could Everton hit potential hiccup?

There is absolutely no reason why Everton cannot continue this unbeaten run when they head to Hull City in a week's time.

Hull have made a great start since earning promotion from the Championship, but this is a game the Toffees really need to be targeting three points from - or a point at worst.

Then comes a home match with a hard-to-read Chelsea side now under the management of Xabi Alonso.

A trip to Arsenal then awaits at the end of October, with that a seriously tough test - the toughest of the entire campaign, you could argue.

Seeing out October unbeaten will be incredibly tough, then, but fingers crossed Everton remain well positioned in the table come the end of it.
