Tyrique George caught the eye as Everton twice fought back to draw with Manchester United.

The winger smashed home the Toffees' first equaliser after Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles then scored a screamer to rescue a 2-2 draw after Benjamin Sesko had put the Red Devils back in front.

Everton struck a permanent deal with Chelsea to take George on a full-time transfer after his loan spell last season.

Last term, George only started one Premier League game, and didn't score or assist in 15 top-flight appearances (14 as a sub).

But the 20-year-old is off the mark now, and has been a consistent threat during the early stages of the campaign.

It was not a given that George would be regular when he returned to Everton in the summer.

But Jack Grealish's return to the Toffees on a season-long loan from Manchester City was not ratified until deadline day.

Iliman Ndiaye's exit to the Etihad Stadium was also confirmed right at the end of the window, with the Senegal ace having been linked with an exit throughout the summer.

George was a topic of discussion between host Matt Jones and the Athletic journalist Paddy Boyland on the Blue Room podcast.

Jones called George "fearless" and praised the way he has been attacking opposition defenders.

Boyland agreed, and said he thinks the situation involving the likes of Grealish and Ndiaye gave George the freedom to show his talent.

He said: "In a curious sense, Grealish not being ready and the Ndiaye situation will have helped him.

"Because he's maybe had more exposure to first-team minutes than he would have envisaged, Moyes would have envisaged, we would have envisaged.

"What I really liked about Sunday, for the first time there was end product that manifested itself as something really important. Brilliant finish.

"He had (Diogo) Dalot on toast all afternoon, before moving over to the other side and making a telling contribution."

Tyrique George has great potential at Everton

George showed plenty of glimpses of his potential last season when he joined on loan from Chelsea.

This season, though, he already looks like a player who is ready to take his game to the next level.

His goal is exactly the sort of thing that Everton fans want to see more of from George, especially with the need for goals to be shared around.

If Moyes can get George firing, in theory it could really free up the likes of Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and give opposition defenders more to think about.

George has great potential, and now it is just about helping the youngster realise it.
