Everton failed to put up much of a fight as they were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees squandered a glorious chance through Thierno Barry in the first half, but that was pretty much it.

Everton fans saw their side fall to defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time since May.

Pedro Neto was the two-goal hero for Chelsea, scoring his first just after half-time and his second in the final stages.

David Moyes' side were still in the game until that late second, but they never really deserved to equalise.

And former Chelsea player turned pundit Cundy did not hold back on his assessment of the Toffees.

Everton matched Chelsea in terms of shots on target with five apiece.

Possession was also pretty much split down the middle, but the difference is that Chelsea took their chances.

The first half was fiery and certainly had an edge to it, but it lacked quality - Barry's poor miss summing that up.

Reacting to the game he commented on via talkSPORT, Cundy said: "I thought Everton were terrible. Honestly, terrible.

"The first half was a horrible game to commentate on. There was no quality. Barry should have done better with a header and Moises Caicedo hit the bar.

"Other than that, there was nothing to talk about. Second half I expected them to come out and show their teeth, but not at all. I'd be a bit annoyed if I was an Everton fan.

"They didn't show anything. I don't know who Everton are. I respect Everton and Moyes, but both managers at half-time should have said at half-time the game was there for the taking. They were pathetic."

While many may not generally agree with Cundy's assessments, he does have a point with this one.

Everton in 10-month low vs Chelsea

Everton had five shots on target from just six shots overall.

Those six shots are the fewest they have registered in a Premier League game since last December against Arsenal (five).

It was a poor attacking showing from the Toffees, even if Jack Grealish tried his best to make something happen for Everton.

Moyes must ensure his side are not as bad next weekend when a trip to reigning champions Arsenal awaits.
