Why 'perfect' Jack Grealish left Owen Hargreaves in awe in Everton defeat vs Chelsea
Jack Grealish certainly caught the eye of Owen Hargreaves as Everton lost 2-0 to Chelsea.
The Toffees played host to the Stamford Bridge outfit on Saturday as their unbeaten start to the season came to an end.
A very intense first half came to an end and made way for Pedro Neto to bet a brace in the second half.
That was nothing more than they deserved as the visitors were largely able to control things on Merseyside.
David Moyes will have wanted better from a number of his stars, but that accusation can't be levelled at Grealish.
The Englishman showed his quality and picked up a majorly positive review from Hargreaves.
Jack Grealish quality stunned Owen Hargreaves
It was a difficult afternoon against Xabi Alonso's side.
Their set up with three at the back frustrated the Merseyside outfit as they looked to push forward.
There was such a lack of space as the away side saw their game plan largely work as hoped.
The only man who caused major problems for that was Grealish.
It started from the off as the Manchester City loanee showed that he was up for the game.
He brought a ball down from the sky and was able to drive forward, much to the delight of Hargreaves.
Speaking via TNT Sports on Saturday, he said: "Wow. Wow, that first touch was perfect."
That was just one moment after eight minutes, but it summed up how the attacker's afternoon went.
How good was Grealish in Everton vs Chelsea?
There was so much to appreciate about the 31-year-old at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
His quality truly shone above anyone else for the home side, even with the result going against him.
Grealish maintained a 100 per cent shot accuracy and was unfortunate to have only created one big chance.
He swung in five crosses and clocked up four touches in the opposition penalty area.
That isn't to say he didn't help out going the other way as he also put up seven defensive actions and five recoveries.
Hargreaves raved about him throughout the encounter, and it's clear to see why.
