Jordan Pickford once again silenced his critics as the Everton goalkeeper helped England beat Mexico at the Azteca.

The Toffees stopper has never quite convinced the entire country, but they can have no doubts after the 3-2 win in the final 16 of the World Cup.

Despite conceding twice, Pickford pulled off numerous unbelievable saves as England played almost an entire second half with 10 men.

It was ex-Liverpool man Jarrell Quansah to disappoint, as those representing Everton saved the day.

Pickford, Anthony Gordon and John Stones were just three with connections to the Blues in Mexico.

Despite the jubilation, it could raise further questions around the future of David Moyes.

What could this mean for David Moyes and Everton?

It wasn't hard to see that last season hurt Moyes.

Despite it mostly being his stubborness that cost the Toffees a shot in Europe again, injuries didn't help.

Moyes would argue that the lack of ability to spend further hurt his side, but the top eight were there for the taking and got thrown away.

Now, the same can be said for the manager watching his beloved Scotland at the World Cup.

After fighting so hard to return to the big stage, the Scots crashed out in the group stages, with only one win against Haiti.

Steve Clarke has since resigned, with growing calls for Moyes to be appointed by Scotland next.

Why David Moyes is now closer than ever to quitting Everton for Scotland job

What has David Moyes said about Scotland job before?

Possibly worrying for Everton, but he has welcomed it.

Back in 2017 before Clarke, ESPN reported that Moyes would be happy to manage his country, but would prefer another club job.

So, after years with West Ham and a return to Everton and the Hill Dickinson, he could have scratched that desire.

But where does Pickford come into this?

England's win over Mexico at the Azteca will go down in history, as everything was against them.

Pickford was at the heart of that, with several amazing saves and iconic celebrations that followed.

Moyes will have been keeping an eye on his number one, and possibly wondering when times like that will happen for Scotland.

Could he see himself as the possible saviour at Hampden Park? It certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see him place his name forward after that.

Moyes has delivered several memorable moments for Everton now, maybe it's time he looks after his country.
