Tyler Dibling robbed of crucial Everton chance after developments away from Hill Dickinson

Tyler Dibling has been going from strength to strength for Everton so far this season.

The winger finally looks to be settling in at Hill Dickinson and had another good performance in the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The 20-year-old came on for Brennan Johnson in the 66th minute and certainly had an impact in the attacking third.

David Moyes has shown more trust in Dibling in recent weeks, who is starting to show why the Blues paid £40million for him.

There were many frustrations in L3 last season about the youngster, but perhaps patience with his development has been key.

Everton are now entering an important international break where they can recover and come back stronger in October, though things look slightly different for Dibling.

Dibling had arguably his best game in an Everton shirt after helping the club progress to round four of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over Wolves.

He set Carlos Alcaraz up for a late winner, but his overall performance wowed Evertonians.

He could have had another assist against Ipswich, but it wasn't meant to be.

The international break could have been crucial for Dibling to help him make an impression on Moyes; however, he will be away from Finch Farm.

The right-winger has been called up for England U21s for their final UEFA EURO qualifiers.

Perhaps the only saving grace is that Tyrique George has also been named in Lee Carsley's squad, meaning the latter won't be able to get an advantage over him in terms of impressing Moyes.

Either way, Dibling could have really made his own claim to be starting over Johnson with some hard work at Finch Farm, but that opportunity has been taken away from him.

Why Everton are starting to see 'incredible' Dibling claim

Everton didn't spend £40m on Dibling for nothing, though there have been obvious concerns because of other failed transfers in the past.

He only played 17 times for the Blues last term, failing to register either a goal or an assist.

But Dibling scored in the Premier League with Southampton, and former Saints boss Russell Martin was big on the then-teenager.

Martin said in September of 2024, as quoted by Southampton's official website: "He has an amazing mentality. And real incredible talent.

"He has to keep doing what he’s doing because he’s become really reliable out of possession; it’s been an interesting journey over the last year in getting him to do certain things and really working that way one hundred per cent."

Perhaps it's still the out-of-possession element of his game that he still needs to prove to Moyes

That's where the international break could have been key for the forward.
