Tyler Dibling's Everton contract examined as Hill Dickinson deja vu sets in
Tyler Dibling is not getting the game time that he would have hoped for at Everton this season.
The winger joined the Toffees last summer in a big-money £40million move from Southampton.
The Saints had initially slapped a £100m valuation on the 20-year-old after his breakout season in the Premier League, but knew they had to sell after their relegation was confirmed.
Dibling has yet to score a goal for the Toffees since joining, and is not living up to the hype of his price tag.
David Moyes has only started the young forward eight times across all competitions, as he's made 21 appearances in total so far in over a year.
Dibling had a strong pre-season, but things haven't gone his way since the real stuff started.
Tyler Dibling's contract examined
Dibling will be getting flashbacks to last season: sitting on the bench and only being handed limited chances to impress.
The England U21s star had arguably his best game for the Blues in a 1-0 win over Wolves in the Carabao Cup before the international break, which was followed by an impressive cameo against Ipswich Town.
However, since club football has resumed, he managed just four minutes off the bench in the 2-2 draw against Hull City, and remained an unused substitute in the 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday.
The former Southampton hotshot signed a four-year deal with the Blues, which runs until the summer of 2029.
Dibling is expected to earn around £40,000 per week at Everton, but will only have two years left on his deal at the end of this season.
That will leave the Toffees with a crucial decision to make on the right-winger, especially if he still fails to get game time.
What has David Moyes recently said about Dibling?
Moyes has been slammed for his handling of young prospects, as this summer saw several talented players leave the U21s setup at Finch Farm.
The same can be said about the young players who are involved in the first team, with Adam Aznou another bizarre case.
Moyes has been vocal about Dibling in the past, and recently admitted that he has been doing better.
The Everton boss said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo: "I actually think that he’s come on in some of the games. Against Hull, he beat the boy, got to the byline and put a cross in. I was really pleased with that.
"I think he’s just beginning to show a little bit more, so I’m hoping that Tyler will come to the fore."
Dibling will be hoping to get more chances at Hill Dickinson soon, or he may start considering his options as early as January.
