What Marcelo Bielsa said about Angus Kinnear proves he needs more time at Everton
Angus Kinnear has faced some severe scrutiny from Everton fans in recent weeks.
Alongside the Friedkin Group, the chief executive didn't enjoy a positive summer transfer window.
David Moyes has been left with fewer than 20 senior outfield players at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
That's despite the late signings of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Jack Grealish.
Everton fans weren't happy that players like Beto, Adam Aznou and Iliman Ndiaye were all allowed to leave without replacements.
But, if Marcelo Bielsa's references are to go by, maybe Kinnear needs to be given more time in blue.
What is wrong at Everton right now?
Kinnear didn't help himself by trying to come across as one of the fans, speaking to the media during the transfer window.
Trying to explain certain decisions that simply haven't worked, only for it to backfire on him over the deadline.
Failing to sign Folarin Balogun on deadline day was the worst of the lot.
But, Bielsa worked very closely with Kinnear at Leeds, not only taking them back to the Premier League, but finishing in the top half straight away.
The Argentine admitted that Kinnear created an organisation at Elland Road which had "very few weak spots" alongside the then-owners.
During that time, he also said that any manager in the world would want to work in that environment created.
Can Angus Kinnear do the same at Everton?
Despite that, Leeds fans still didn't like Kinnear, and warned the Toffees as soon as his move was confirmed.
One thing he doesn't have at Everton, is a public-facing owner.
Moyes admitted himself that he has never spoken to the Friedkins while in charge, and that itself is a shambles.
With other commitments at AS Roma, where another new stadium is being built and Champions League football secure, Everton fans feel they are not taken seriously enough by the Americans.
Kinnear, therefore, is doing a lot of the work behind-the-scenes, seemingly alone or with a very small team.
That breeds zero chance of success, and regardless of glowing references from his past, this certainly isn't an environment that will bring success, too.
