Andre Gomes has arrived in Lille for a medical ahead after leaving Everton earlier this year, according to Sebastien Denis.

The French journalist reported on 6 September that if his tests go well on Friday morning (6 September), the 31-year-old will sign for the Ligue 1 outfit.

The former Portugal international is available for free, just over two months after departing Goodison Park, and has opted to return to the side he spent the 2022/23 season at.

Andre Gomes to join Lille after Everton exit

Nothing went particularly right for the midfielder at Goodison with difficult spells only made worse by regular injury worries, often ruling him out for months at a time.

The former Barcelona man became the forgotten man for the Toffees during his time at the club due to his frequent concerns.

This saw him make just 85 appearances for the club between 2018 and 2024 after completing a permanent move from Camp Nou.

The writing was on the wall for Gomes as his contract came to a close as it never felt as if his deal was going to be renewed by Sean Dyche.

He left with a gift, scoring against Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in his final campaign, doubling his tally with the club.

A return to Lille appears to make sense for all parties on a free transfer after an initial loan spell in Ligue 1 over a year ago.
