Big fee mooted as Everton interest in Tottenham star-of-future Mikey Moore emerges

Tottenham Hotspur gem Mikey Moore was a player on Everton's summer shortlist, it has now emerged.

The Blues were in the market for additional attacking talent, but were unable to get any over the line towards the end of the window.

Jack Grealish was signed towards the final hours of the transfer market, but he was part of last season's squad and was not a new addition in that regard.

Folarin Balogun was also targeted but that deal ultimately collapsed at the final hurdle.

Moore, though, was a deal that could have been complete earlier in the window.

With it now coming out on how much the Toffees were willing to offer to land the young forward.

Why Everton would have failed with Mikey Moore move

Moore would have been an exciting talent for Everton to scoop up, and he certainly would have improved the attacking numbers at David Moyes' disposal.

As shared by the print edition of Sport BILD on 16 September, Everton were prepared to spend £25.7million in order to bring the 19-year-old to Hill Dickinson.

That is a relatively big fee for a player with so limited Premier League minutes to his name.

However, Moore reportedly only ever had eyes on completing a loan switch with no option to buy for this summer.

That is despite Tottenham preferring a permanent exit for the Englishman.

Sport BILD state that Moore believes next summer can be his chance to complete a transfer to a "top club".

Teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are mentioned to be part of that category.

What have Everton missed out on in Moore?

Losing out on any transfer target is not ideal, and Moore is a player with lots of quality.

Over the years, many of his manager have hailed him for his performances, with Ange Postecoglou perhaps giving the most glowing review.

The Australian and former Tottenham manager likened Moore's situation to Lamine Yamal when the winger was only 17 years old.

As relayed by The Standard, he said: "There are always exceptions to the rule and Yamal is certainly one of them, but if you look at the Premier League, how many 17 year olds are actually contributing?

“Mikey is already, which shows that he's got something special, but we've just got to be really careful about how we develop that."

Moore's development, though, has not seen him become a Tottenham regular, with his loan to Koln his second in two years.

But, at 19 years old, Moore has plenty of time left in his career, and maybe the Toffees can still swoop in for him at a later date.
