Brennan Johnson's Everton contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Brennan Johnson joined Everton in the summer as part of a surprise swap deal.

The Wales international was welcomed at Hill Dickinson Stadium in a move from Crystal Palace.

Dwight McNeil went the other way in what is now seen as a more old-school swap.

The Eagles had wanted the Englishman previously, so the deal appeared to make sense for all parties.

There were some reservations over the 25-year-old's arrival at Hill Dickinson Stadium after a poor stint at Selhurst Park.

Johnson will be keen to prove people wrong at Everton as we now assess what we know about his contract in L3.

What is Brennan Johnson's Everton wage?

It's fair to say that the ex-Nottingham Forest man has failed to truly live up to expectations.

He had looked set to become a star at the City Ground before he went on to seal a move to Tottenham.

The attacker will go down in folklore in North London for his Europa League winning goal, but that wasn't enough to avoid being sold.

He now finds himself at Everton after two transfers in 2026, but it is seemingly worth Johnson's while.

That is because Valuball estimates that the Welshman is being paid a staggering £145,000-a-week on Merseyside.

That equates to a massive £7.5million yearly salary as he third highest paid player in the whole Toffees squad.

How much are Everton paying for Johnson per year?

The Blues are paying a pretty penny for the attacker as part of his four-year deal.

That is being spread over the course of his contract, which is an obvious plus as part of amortisation.

It is suggested that Everton will pay £6m for the current year before that rises to £6.8m from next season.

That will then be paid until his current terms expire in the summer of 2030.

It feels like a lot to spend on someone who certainly isn't a guaranteed starter at this stage.

There will be questions over that, especially knowing that he could even sign a new contract at some point in the near future.

A swap deal may have looked to have made sense on paper, but paying Johnson £145,000-per-week seems crazy.
