David Moyes has identified West Ham star Taty Castellanos as a target for Everton's forward line.

The Blues are looking for alternative options after Beto and Thierno Barry failed to impress.

The former notched nine Premier League goals, which is not good enough for a side that wants to be challenging for Europe.

The latter only hit six goals, although it was his first campaign in English football. but off-field incidents have damaged his standing with supporters.

A report from The Guardian on Friday claimed that the Toffees have shortlisted the Hammers man as an option to fill the void.

Moyes still clearly has a connection with his former clubs, as this is not the first time that he has targeted one of their players.

Why West Ham connection impacts Everton business

Moyes must like the idea of taking players from the London Stadium side as the Blues have constantly been linked with them.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is understood be a target for the right-back position, while Tomas Soucek is also apparently on the L3 outfit's radar.

The Scotsman clearly can't stay away from the East London side when it comes to potential transfer targets.

It makes some sense, as certain players will be available for cheaper fees and may well perform better in a better team.

Why Everton should sign Castellanos

Castellanos is a solid target for the Blues, as he proved he can handle Premier League football in his short stint in E20.

He notched six goals in 18 league matches, which is not bad in a relegation threatened team, however, it was other attributes which will have piqued Moyes' attention.

The former Lazio man is a willing runner off the ball, drops deep to create and showed a high workrate in his time with the Hammers.

He is also very good aerially, despite not having the typical target man build, which will also appeal to the Merseysiders.

In the Blues' team, with the likes of Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye feeding him chances, he could thrive at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It remains to be seen whether a deal is reached, but it is an interesting potential addition.
