Duncan Ferguson already asks David Moyes for Everton player as appointment confirmed
Duncan Ferguson has already been in contact with Everton boss David Moyes after joining Glentoran.
The Toffees icon has made his return to management after two years away from the dugout.
His last job ended in 2024 as Inverness Caledonian Thistle were placed into administration.
The Scot managed the highest win percentage of his career with the Highlands club, but was let go nonetheless.
He has now made a surprise move to Northern Ireland to manage Glentoran.
Ahead of his move to the Irish Premiership, Ferguson made a request to Moyes at Everton.
What did Duncan Ferguson ask Everton boss David Moyes?
The Goodison favourite has certainly caused a stir within Irish football and beyond.
His arrival at The Oval has been described as arguably the "most extraordinary" appointment in the history of the division.
That has sparked a wider interest in the move as everyone associated with the Toffees will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
It seems as if Ferguson is keen to get some help from his former club at his new one.
That comes after speaking to talkSPORT on Monday to reveal he spoke to Moyes before his appointment was publicly confirmed by the Glens.
Speaking with his tongue in his cheek, he said: "I'm trying to butter him [Moyes] up here, because I'm looking for some players
"I texted him last night asking if he has any players for me. He's one of the best managers I've ever worked with."
The question will be, if that would be a possibility, how many fresh faces could Ferguson bring to Belfast?
How many January signings does Ferguson want at Glentoran?
He may be joking around on talkSPORT, but it's fair to assume that he really does want to do some business with the Blues.
That could suit all parties realistically, even with Moyes dealing with a massively thin first-team squad.
It is interesting to see Ferguson mention bringing in Everton players, but he went on to suggest what January business he has in mind.
Adding to his previous comments, he said: "We've got a great squad here. We've been brought to this club for a reason, because we think they have good players.
"We'll give the players a chance here, absolutely. If we can strengthen in January in one or two positions, we'll do that, like every manager does."
Should the Scot turn to Everton to help recruit in the roles he sees necessary, it will be interesting to see who that could be.
