Alan Myers teased more business from the Blues in his latest broadcast from Finch Farm on Sky Sports News.
Speaking from the Toffees' training base on Tuesday (5:30pm), he updated supporters on Maitland-Niles' whereabouts and shared more insight.
It suggested that another addition could be made before the 11pm deadline strikes.
He said: “We are also waiting on Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is coming from Lyon.
“He is expected to land in the country maybe in the next half an hour or so, then he will come and sort that deal out.
"It's been a really busy day, and we may not be finished. Who knows? It's always a late one."
Why Maitland-Niles may be the most exciting signing
Maitland-Niles has made 85 appearances for Lyon in Ligue 1 since making the move to France, and may be the most exciting move of the lot.
He also has significant Premier League experience to his name, with 109 appearances in England's top-flight.
The 29-year-old managed one goal and four assists in France's top division last season.
His underlying numbers suggest he can make an impact going forward, as he averaged 0.51 shots and 0.76 chances created per 90, according to FotMob data.
Defensively, he averaged 6.01 contributions, with 2.06 tackles, 3.77 recoveries and 2.61 clearances.
In terms of duels, he won 48.6 per cent on the ground and 48.8 per cent in the air, which is a solid record.
The biggest priority for the recruitment team was securing a right-back and the former Gunners star brings a lot of positive attributes to the Merseysiders.
It will finally end the problem for Moyes and his side, and there will no longer be a centre-back or a midfielder playing out position.
