Everton could potentially have another chance to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison in January.

The Brazil international is currently in football purgatory after being left out of the Premier League squad by Roberto De Zerbi.

In the summer, the 29-year-old looked to be pushing for a move away from the North London outfit, but nothing materialised.

There were even talks of Richarlison returning to Everton in the summer as Tottenham held talks for Iliman Ndiaye.

In the end, the Senegal international joined Manchester City on deadline day, while the Toffees were left scouring for a new striker.

Beto also joined Fiorentina on the last day of the transfer window in England, and after a deal for Folarin Balogun fell through in the final hours, David Moyes was left with Thierno Barry as his only natural striker.

Will Everton make another move for Richarlison?

Richarlison is expected to leave Tottenham in January without any fuss and will surely dominate the transfer headlines until then.

The Toffees are arguably in desperate need of another number nine and the links with the Brazilian centre-forward are obviously there.

However, Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley believes "the Richarlison ship sailed a long time ago".

While there was a chance that the striker could've returned to the Blues in the summer, the club couldn't agree on personal terms with him.

The former Goodison Park fan favourite seems like an obvious candidate for the Merseyside outfit to bring back amid their striker concerns.

But Beesly suggests that instead of looking back at the Tottenham ace, the recruitment department in L3 should focus on finding "the next Richarlison" in South America.

Moyes has used Brennan Johnson as a number nine and said that Charly Alcaraz could provide cover for Barry.

The former Villarreal youngster still needs to polish off his finishing at the Toffees after missing some big chances already in the Premier League.

If the Blues intend to challenge for something special this season, they will certainly need more quality in depth up front.

For now, like the experiments with Johnson and Alcaraz in the number nine position, Tyrique George is another player who could play down the middle.

The young Englishman's pace would certainly be a threat for any team and give his teammates more chances of playing behind defences with the former Chelsea winger as the number nine.
