Everton have been linked with a move for Inter Milan's Petar Sucic ahead of the January transfer window.

The Toffees had a lacklustre summer transfer window, and will be hoping to put things right in the winter.

A lot of their business could depend on what happens with the Friedkin Group, who are now actively seeking to sell up ahead of the winter window.

Despite this, Angus Kinnear and Co. still have a job to do, with Sucic at the forefront of their minds, among other targets

The midfielder cost Inter just short of £12million to sign from Dinamo Zagreb in 2025, but has struggled for minutes so far this campaign.

Everton have been credited with interest, but the Toffees may have been offered some clarity after recent words coming from Italy.

Inter Milan manager speaks out on Petar Sucic situation amid Everton links

Inter are reportedly open to selling Sucic in January, with Everton and Newcastle United two interested Premier League clubs.

The Toffees were keen on the 22-year-old in the summer, but it was perhaps too soon for the player to move on after only joining the Serie A giants last year.

Dinamo Zagreb president Zvonimir Boban has been vocal recently about the Croatian's lack of minutes in Italy.

Interestingly, Sucic scored in Inter Milan's 3-0 win over Parma on Saturday, with the club's official website hailing his "spectacular skill" for the finish.

Manager Christian Chivu has since made his own comments on the player, responding to Boban's statement on the former Zagreb star.

Chivu said, as quoted by Sport.hrt: "I have a lot of respect for Boban, and I understand the context of his statement.

"Petar missed the early pre-season due to the birth of a child, but he still remains in our long-term plans. He is an important player, and we know what he can bring us in the future. We are happy to have him."

Perhaps it will be a little bit harder than first expected for Everton to land Sucic in January, if at all.

Who is Sucic most similar to in Everton squad?

Sucic primarily plays in central midfield, but can often be seen venturing forward even when deployed further back.

He can play the number 10 role, but his bite and determination are considered as key parts of his game.

There are striking similarities with a certain Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who can also play deeper in midfield.

However, the former Chelsea man has the freedom of Hill Dickinson, especially now that Iliman Ndiaye has moved on.

For all of Dewsbury-Hall's good work, he is never going to be on top of his game every time he plays.

Sucic is like Dewsbury-Hall in the fact that he can do both sides of the game very well.

Could he be viewed as the competition for Everton's number 10 spot moving forward?
