Everton 'want four new starters' as Jack Grealish fee and timeframe emerges
Everton are preparing to welcome plenty of fresh faces, as well as Jack Grealish, according to the club's former senior scout.
There is a desire to drastically improve David Moyes' squad and former scout Bryan King has exclusively told Goodison News that at least four signings could come in this summer.
That would represent a total change in direction for the Blues, for whom just three of their eight signings from 12 months ago made a true first-team impact.
The Blues need to learn from their failings as they move into a second pre-season at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
There has already been plenty of links to Merseyside despite there being no confirmed deals before the window opens.
Grealish could prove to be one of the first as a raft of new starters look set to come through the door at Finch Farm.
Everton tipped to re-sign Jack Grealish in busy summer spree
With the way the Premier League season ended, there is a need for improved squad depth in L3.
Moyes has already spoken about improving his side over the summer and there is a need for fresh faces
That could begin with the return of Grealish from Manchester City after his loan deal came to an end.
King believes the ex-England international could be the first deal the Toffees do before moving to signing multiple stars for the starting XI.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: "They want four new starters and Everton have usually spent money wisely.
"The biggest thing for them to do is sort a deal for Jack Grealish. I would imagine the final deal for him will be £30million.
"Man City can bring in players for big money, but they can let them go for relatively cheap once their jobs are done there."
What positions will Everton recruit for?
With four regulars wanted on Merseyside, there are clear areas for improvement in L3.
A centre-back to cover for Jarrad Branthwaite and a right-back to alternate with Jake O'Brien would certainly go down well as the search for the latter has gone on for years.
A central midfielder may also be necessary and it looks as if work has already been done to secure one with Hayden Hackney edging closer to a Merseyside switch.
Grealish would then go on to be the fourth option after a massively positive loan spell before his season-ending injury.
Moyes described him as a "real talent" in an August press conference after his move from City and would likely welcome him back this summer.
Those positions would certainly represent an instant boost to the Everton squad, especially if other areas can also be addressed.
