Everton already have some transfer priorities that David Moyes may need to address come the January transfer window.

The Blues had a roller-coaster of a summer transfer window, and though they signed some exciting players, a dramatic deadline day left a sour taste in supporters' mouths.

The Toffees have still had a positive start to the season, as far as the league concerned, but Moyes has a task to keep some big players fit until January.

While there are some more obvious areas that the Toffees will surely want to upgrade come the winter window, other positions may need a surprising look-in too.

Why Everton may assess right-back spot despite new arrival

Everton signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Lyon for £4.2million on deadline day, as moves for other targets fell through.

It's said that Angus Kinnear and Co. had a budget of £20m to upgrade the position, but ended up spending less than a quarter of that figure on the ex-Arsenal man.

The 29-year-old has evolved into a right-sided defender over the years, but how he will perform there in the Premier League remains to be seen.

Everton failed to sign Kenny Tete from Fulham ahead of the summer deadline, and if Maitland-Niles fails to perform, they may make a move for the former once more in January.

Vitalii Mykolenko to be under microscope ahead of January

Vitalii Mykolenko is Everton's only natural left-back at the club.

Jake O'Brien can offer cover there, though this would surely annoy supporters even further.

Everton were linked with a couple of left-backs over the summer, though because they had other pressing priorities, they didn't make a move for one.

The gap until the next transfer window gives Moyes some crucial time to decide on Mykolenko, but not on if he is sold or not, just whether an upgrade is brought in.

Everton's most obvious January priority

Thierno Barry is currently Everton's only senior recognised striker at the club after a deadline-day debacle.

Beto departed Finch Farm, while Everton's 40m move for Monaco's Folarin Balogun fell through.

This led to Everton enquiring about signing Joshua Zirkzee and Tammy Abraham with hours to spare, with Tyrique George now seen as the potential back-up striker.

Whether Everton plan to go back in for Balogun or not remains to be seen.

However, if the Toffees do not move for a new number nine come January, then something is seriously wrong.
