Why Friedkin Group could already sell up at Everton after concerning transfer update

Everton fans have every right to question The Friedkin Group's best interests amid news of another potential player sale this summer.

David Moyes has hinted at his frustrations in recent weeks, with the Toffees still yet to recruit a right-back.

Hayden Hackney and the injured Christian Norgaard are the only new signings to have arrived for a fee since the end of last season.

Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl have made their loan moves permanent, meanwhile, and Brennan Johnson joined as part of a straight swap involving Dwight McNeil.

Not only have Everton not recruited as many players as supporters would have liked, they could also see a couple of fan favourites head for the exit, leaving a big question mark over the Friedkin Group's direction.

Friedkin Group sale question raised at Everton

News emerged on Saturday that Everton could sell Harrison Armstrong before the window closes on Tuesday evening.

A £40million move to Nottingham Forest is on the cards for the academy graduate, which has not gone down well with supporters at all.

This update comes amid repeated suggestions that star man Iliman Ndiaye could also be off for big money.

That has led respected journalist Alan Myers to question if the Friedkins could sell up before long.

"It wouldn’t surprise me if they sold the club," he posted via his personal X account on Saturday.

"I have no idea if that is likely or not, but it doesn’t feel like they are working towards challenging at the very top, certainly not if the best players are being sold. Let’s see if that actually happens."

It is hard to disagree with what Myers says on the face of it, assuming the reports of Armstrong and Ndiaye both potentially being off are to be believed.

There is still a chance the £100m-plus windfall could be invested back into the squad, but supporters have been given little evidence to suggest that will be the case.

Why Everton may be taking notice of fan backlash

Supporters were quick to make their feelings known amid talk of Armstrong being off.

It had been widely reported Armstrong would miss Everton's clash with Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

However, not only was Armstrong part of the squad, he started for Moyes at the Vitality Stadium.

Could this be down to Everton being aware of the narrative surrounding the club right now?

Possibly, or possibly not. What is for certain, though, is Everton fans really will be furious if Armstrong is sold and no replacement is brought in.
