How Everton have struck gold as James Garner transfer value triples

James Garner continues to reach new highs with Everton.

Despite starting the season with an injury, the midfielder has bounced back superbly in recent weeks.

David Moyes is a huge fan, and it's handed Garner a route back into the England set up with Thomas Tuchel.

With injuries hitting the Three Lions hard, he got his chance to come off the bench against world champions, Spain.

Garner was subject to heavy transfer speculation over the summer again, but signed an extended contract at Hill Dickinson.

And that has only helped his value go one way.

In truth, a player is worth as much as another club is willing to pay for them, with Everton more than happy to keep Garner regardless.

CIES Football Observatory update their valuations all the time, considering inflation and percentages around the most likely buyers.

Their latest findings suggest that a fair price for Garner is anywhere up to £48.8million in the current market.

While a huge figure in itself, Everton would argue he's worth even more than that to them.

What did Everton pay to sign James Garner?

It's easy to forget that the midfielder actually signed from Manchester United, way back in 2022.

Garner was mostly known from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest before that, as Everton swooped in to take him forward.

It's been an absolute masterclass, given they only paid £15m at the time.

So, even looking at the £48.8m valuation, that price has more than tripled and will only continue going that way, too.

A new long-term contract only adds value, as well as his new exposure with England and Tuchel in these international breaks.

If Garner helps guide Everton into Europe, too, then he will add even more value onto his name in future.

Chelsea actually made a late play at Garner this summer, and sent an approach worth £65m.

That is huge money, and they were desperate after selling Enzo Fernandez, but it's good to see Everton stand their ground.

Take that into account, and this value is going to more than skyrocket over the next year.
