Jacob Murphy to be 'let go' as Everton learn Newcastle's financial demands

Jacob Murphy could head to Everton in a down-to-the-wire transfer deal.

The Toffees are looking for further attacking reinforcements ahead of the window's deadline next Tuesday, with Iliman Ndiaye's future up in the air.

The Senegal international is progressing in personal talks over a potential deal to join Manchester City, with Jack Grealish mooted for a return to Hill Dickinson.

But with the wingers predominantly playing on opposite flanks to one another, Ndiaye's sale would mean that Everton would be short of an option on the right-hand side of their attack.

Newcastle United are still looking to bring in more face, with departures also possible at St. James' Park.

Murphy is one of them, and Everton have held a long-standing interest in the forward this summer.

Sky Sports reported earlier in the window that Everton have Murphy on their transfer list, as David Moyes had brief words with the player during pre-season.

While speaking exclusively to Goodison News talkSPORT broadcaster and Newcastle expert Jack Cunningham revealed some insight into what the Toffees would need and get for the 31-year-old.

Cunningham said: "Murphy has been a loyal servant to Newcastle and has lived the dream as a boyhood Toon fan. But there is a belief that should an acceptable offer come in, and a replacement arrives, he'll be let go.

"He has less than a year left on his deal and he's 31, but he's still a very experienced winger, and I would expect to receive around £15million for him.

"His main attribute by miles is his crossing ability. He can really land a ball on a sixpence in the penalty box. Be it, a curled cross to the far post or a flashing delivery into the box.

"Someone like Thierno Barry should get plenty of service."

Cunningham went on to admit that Murphy did have a drop-off last term, in comparison to a career-best campaign the season prior.

However, Moyes may know how to get the best out of him.

The latest on Murphy's situation

There has been reports to suggest that Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Murphy from the Magpies in recent days.

However, the Reds have submitted a £22million for Crystal Palace right-wing back on Friday.

A bid for the Colombian suggests that Oliver Glasner is more keen on being reunited with Munoz than he is with the prospect of signing Murphy.

This gives Everton a clear run for the Englishman, who has bags of Premier League experience under his belt.
