James Trafford solution emerges amid Jordan Pickford exit fears at Everton
James Trafford could soon become the next number one at Everton.
The Toffees could be in the market for a new shot stopper this summer as Jordan Pickford faces an uncertain future.
After nine years as the go-to man on Merseyside, the journey could be over for the England international.
He has been linked with a move away from Hill Dickinson Stadium as Juventus have come knocking.
The World Cup will be at the forefront of his mind right now, but his club future is also on the line this summer.
Should the 32-year-old seek a move elsewhere, Trafford could prove to be the next best thing for the Toffees.
James Trafford could replace Jordan Pickford at Everton
Italian outlet TuttoJuve have reported that the Old Lady are "evaluating" a move for the keeper this summer.
The Serie A giants are in the market for a new goalkeeper and the Everton ace could make the move to Turin.
If he does swap L3 for the Allianz Stadium, there will be an immediate need for a new number one for David Moyes.
Former Everton scout Bryan King believes Trafford could be an ideal option at Hill Dickinson Stadium due to his England national team links.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, King said: "It might be a swan song for Pickford to go out and play for someone like Juventus.
"James Trafford at Manchester City comes to mind as a replacement. If you're going to get rid of an England international, it makes sense to replace him with one.
"Trafford needs matches under his belt if he's going to compete, so playing number two at Man City doesn't help. He could be a good solution for Everton to replace Pickford."
How far could Everton go to sign Trafford from Manchester City?
It feels as if a large number of Premier League sides are going to be interested in the 2002-born keeper at one stage or another.
Whenever the need for a goalkeeper pops up, Trafford would make a top option for anybody.
That could prompt Everton to move quickly in the market as the threat of losing Pickford looms.
Man City are reportedly willing to consider Trafford's exit this summer, but will demand anywhere between £30million and £45m.
That could prove to be a steal in the long-term in a similar fashion to a certain someone who was brought in from Sunderland for £30m.
Looking at the more expensive end of that spectrum would still be worthwhile as the need for a new keeper can't be understated should Pickford move on.
