Nathan Patterson future under 'scrutiny', what's Everton's transfer priority?
Nathan Patterson's future at Everton is looking increasingly uncertain.
The 24-year-old signed a five-and-a-half-year deal when he joined the Toffees from Rangers in January 2022.
Everton stumped up a reported fee of £11million to bring Patterson to the blue half of Merseyside and had high hopes for his future.
However, his time at Everton has been badly disrupted by injuries, while his form has been patchy when he has been selected.
Indeed, he has regularly found himself out of favour, with Jake O'Brien - more at home at centre-back - often deputising at full-back.
It not looks as though Patterson's future is about to come into sharper focus in the coming weeks.
Everton ready to ponder Nathan Patterson future
Everton were putting some of their business on hold due to the World Cup, which is, of course, still ongoing.
But Patterson's participation is now over after Scotland failed to get out of a group also containing Haiti, Morocco and Brazil.
With the Tartan Army's World Cup adventure now over, Joe Thomas reported for the Liverpool Echo that Patterson's future is now set to face more "scrutiny".
Thomas noted that right-back remains a priority position for Everton to strengthen this summer, with long-term servant Seamus Coleman having now left, too.
David Moyes is also looking for midfield reinforcement, with Everton set to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, while he is also looking to boost his numbers in attacking positions.
Who is on Everton's radar at right-back?
Right-back has been a problem position at times for Everton, and it is an area that needs addressing.
West Ham United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one name linked with the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the Hammers suffering relegation last season.
Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova is another player who is said to be on Everton's radar this summer.
However, Thomas stated that Strasbourg right-back Guela Doue is likely to prove too expensive a deal for Everton to complete.
As for Patterson, it remains to be seen where his future lies, though it is becoming increasingly likely that his time at Hill Dickinson Stadium is coming to an end.
