Liam Delap will always be one name that refuses to go away at Everton.

David Moyes has never hidden the fact that he is a huge fan of the striker, currently at Chelsea.

Things haven't worked out at Stamford Bridge, though.

With Xabi Alonso coming in, Delap finds himself possibly leaving after only one year in west London.

Everton tried to sign Delap from Ipswich before his move to the capital, and despite positive noises, they failed.

And now, a move for the attacker may be more difficult than ever.

Everton are 'serious' suitors for Liam Delap

Despite that, the Toffees continue to get linked with the striker ahead of the 1 September deadline.

According to iNews, Everton are among three "serious" suitors in the Premier League.

The others? Leeds and Nottingham Forest.

It's stated that Chelsea's £50m asking price makes things very difficult though, especially given the fact he only scored twice last season.

If not going for Delap, it's said that the reality is clubs like Everton would need to "roll the dice" elsewhere, with no clear alternatives in the market.

The day Everton fans thought Liam Delap would sign

Back in May 2025, Ipswich rocked up to Goodison Park already relegated.

In the penultimate home game at Goodison before the move to Hill Dickinson, Everton raced into a two-goal lead.

But it finished 2-2 in the end.

Delap didn't score in that game, but videos flooded social media of Delap visiting a house on Goodison Road.

The striker even signed an Everton wall after the game, leading fans to believe he was destined for Merseyside.

That didn't happen in the end, but chasing the money and possible fame at Chelsea hasn't worked out even slightly.

Realistically, though, at £50million this summer, it simply isn't going to happen, probably for anybody.

Nobody within their right minds would spend that much money on a failed striker with only one Premier League goal.

Of course, the market is inflated for English talents, especially strikers, but Chelsea are having a laugh with this one.

Everton fans can forget about it, unless a loan is accepted first.
