Senior Leverkusen figure has already told Everton what to expect from Christian Kofane
Everton boss David Moyes may get his wish for extra firepower as a move for Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane accelerates.
The 19-year-old forward is a much sought-after player in this summer's transfer window.
Premier League champions Arsenal had at one point been linked with a move for the exciting teenager.
But this week, Everton have reportedly stolen a march of their rivals to lead the race for his signature.
According to Daily Arsenal journalist David Schill, Kofane's agent Eric Depolo was at Everton's training ground on Wednesday to hold talks over a potential move.
Those talks were said to be "positive", and a senior Leverkusen figure gave Kofane a glowing assessment last year.
David Moyes will be getting 'prolific' striker at Everton
Kofane only made the switch to Leverkusen this year, making the move to the Bundesliga from Albacete.
The Cameroon international bagged seven goals and provided nine assists in 44 appearances across all competitions in his debut campaign.
Speaking when Kofane was signed by Leverkusen, the club's sporting managing director Simon Rolfes gave a glowing reference.
In quotes reported by Leverkusen's official website in July 2025, Rolfes said: "Christian Kofane is an extremely powerful and fast striker, technically gifted and very prolific.
"He will help make our game more variable with his strengths and he has the potential to be an important part of our team in the coming years."
Those comments will be music to Moyes' ears if they prove to be true in an Everton shirt.
Right now, Everton have Beto who is an extremly hard-working striker, but does not possess the best technical quality.
The same can be said of Thierno Barry, who showed glimpses of potential last term, but doubts remain over whether he will prove to a shrewd long-term signing.
What else do Everton need this summer?
Everton have done some business this summer, with Hayden Hackney joining from Middlesbrough.
Merlin Rohl and Tyrique George have also completed full moves to Hill Dickinson Stadium after loan spells last season.
One area that desperately needs looking at is right-back, with Nathan Patterson likely to be sold if a suitor can be found.
Djed Spence and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are reportedly among a plethora of options Everton are exploring there.
Moyes might look to add another midfielder as doubts remain over Idrissia Gana Gueye, while Tim Iroegbunam could be sold.
Pape Gueye has emerged as a reported target as Moyes targets a more defensive-minded midfielder.
