Thierno Barry was under the spotlight on Final Score during Everton's defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.

The Toffees fell to a 2-0 loss to the Premier League champions at Emirates Stadium.

Ezri Konsa in the first half as Everton made a mess of things from an Arsenal corner, while his centre-back partner Gabriel Magalhaes doubled the lead after the break.

It means it is now back-to-back defeats for David Moyes' side, who were beaten 2-0 at home by Chelsea last week.

Barry was once again leading the line for Everton, who have no other senior option up front.

His performance was discussed by Stephen Warnock and Chris Sutton on Final Score, with the former making a transfer claim about the Friedkin Group.

Stephen Warnock is convinced David Moyes won't get his Everton wish

It was an absolute shambles of a January transfer window for Everton.

The fact that Moyes was left in a scenario whereby he had only one senior striker is unforgivable.

It has, of course, since emerged that TFG are open to selling the club if the right buyer can be found.

That has left Everton in a state of uncertainty, and has cast doubt on how much work will be done on Moyes' squad in the winter window.

Sutton and Warnock were discussing Barry, and the latter then stated how he cannot foresee a scenario where TFG put up big money to strengthen Moyes' frontline in January.

The former Liverpool defender said on Final Score: "You can look at it and say if you brought another striker in, who's more prolific? However, that striker might not make those runs that he (Barry) makes.

"I think he's massively frustrating, there's times I'm watching this game and he's sloppy with his hold-up play and there's times you'll go how's he just done that? How's he just finished that when he can't score a two-yard tap-in?

"If they get given the money, obviously this is a big talking point because of the club going up for sale, the owners aren't suddenly going to go how much do you want? Do you want £40 or £ 50 million? We'll go out and buy you a striker.

"There's no way they're going to buy anyone."

Everton have to find a solution

In fairness, Warnock is probably not wrong with what he is saying.

It is hard to imagine that TFG will put up big money for Moyes to sign a striker in January if they are looking to sell up.

But, even if it is a short-term solution, they have to draft someone in during the January transfer window.

That's not even a dig at Barry, but it is an acknowledgment that he simply cannot carry the burden of being the only striker on Everton's books.

TFG may be looking for a way out, but they have said they remain committed, and they have to prove that in the winter.
