Taty Castellanos could be instant Everton scapegoat as transfer battle begins
Everton are looking to reset after missing out on European football.
The Toffees somehow ended the Premier League season in 13th, following a seven-match winless run after the March international break.
Before then, the Toffees were flying high, with their form placing them at the front of the European chasers.
But, David Moyes would end the season with pressure on his shoulders, as his side limped home to failure.
Hayden Hackney has just been confirmed as the first signing of the summer, but the Blues are only just starting their plans.
With this in mind, the Toffees are starting to look in the final third with West Ham striker Taty Castellanos.
Familiar issue starts at Everton with Taty Castellanos link
Last month, The Guardian reported that Hammers striker Castellanos is an option for Everton this summer.
Now, this has been backed up by Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, who reports that the Toffees are interested in the forward.
Fulham are also mentioned as an interested party, after he made the switch from Lazio for £25million back in January.
The Argentine scored six times in the Premier League last term, and provided "fantastic energy" to Nuno Espirito Santo's side by his own admission.
But, he is not the goalscoring striker that Everton are so craving.
Since losing Romelu Lukaku in 2017, the Blues are still yet to find anything alike the impact of the Belgian.
In years gone by, the Blues have been in desperate need of someone to guarantee goals - Castellanos is not that man.
He is lively, and occupies defences fantastically, but he is not the 20-goal forward Toffees fans crave, bagging six in the second half of last season.
Castellanos could awaken Everton fan concerns
After the disappointing end to the season, Moyes has serious pressure on his shoulders as far as the fans are concerned.
What has not helped, is his stubbornness, and unwillingness to pick players based on form.
Castellanos would be an instant scapegoat at Hill Dickinson Stadium should Everton not start all too well.
Fans would appreciate his work ethic and personality, but the lack of goals would soon be pointed out, angering what is already a frustrated fanbase.
The 27-year-old would bring energy, but Everton want and need more, unfortunately earning him a spot as a potential scapegoat if he were to make the move.
