TFG to sign new striker for Everton in January despite plans to sell
The Friedkin Group already have plans in mind for the January window at Everton.
It's fair to say that the US consortium are far from popular right now at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Toffees owners are already looking to jump ship, less than two years after coming in on Merseyside.
They have been accused of flipping the Blues for a quick profit, something which typically isn't done with football clubs.
David Moyes hasn't let the uncertainty in the boardroom impact his players on the pitch.
Many have questioned how it could damage Everton in the transfer market, but a problem position could still be solved in January.
What David Ornstein expects from Everton in January
If there is annoyance being aimed towards the Friedkins, it is nothing compared to that of deadline day.
The Blues faithful were left incensed after a horrorshow end to the summer window.
Beto was let go as Folarin Balogun looked set to come in, but there was no backup plan in place for when that deal eventually collapsed.
Everton now have just one recognised striker to last them until January and are in desperate need of another option.
Many believed that the Friedkin's move to put the Toffees up for sale would halt any chance of that happening.
It has now been revealed by David Ornstein via The Athletic FC Podcast that he believes a striker could still be targeted in the winter.
The transfer specialist said: "They only want to sell to the right buyer. They want it to be a custodian that can take the club to the next level. In the meantime, they remain fully committed. Nothing changes.
"They'll be ready to invest in the January transfer market, they say, if that be a striker which I could see coming in. They're not pulling the plug, but they are ready to go."
That will add an air of optimism on Merseyside, but who could come in?
Who could Everton sign as new striker?
There have been various names linked with a Hill Dickinson switch since the summer.
Questions of whether a deal could be revisited for Balogun will come up, but that is uncertain.
There were also strong deadline day links for Joshua Zirkzee as a loan deal with Manchester United was seemingly on the table.
With his game time limited at Old Trafford in the first half of the campaign, a move may be possible in January.
Esteban Lepaul is the latest to be linked after catching the eye with 29 goal involvements since the start of last season.
It will be interesting to see if the Friedkins get a deal over the line, should they still be in place as owners on Merseyside.
